03rd Jul 2009

As its fast approaching the school Summer holidays its time to get out and about and enjoy some family events.

Whether you are a resident of Scarborough or a visitor staying at one of our Scarborough hotels then there really is something for everyone to enjoy.

Events not to be missed this July:

Time Travellers Go…

The new Time Travellers Go… Events Club kicks off this month at Clifford’s Tower, Conisbrough Castle, Scarborough Castle and Whitby Abbey.

Children are invited to come along and sign up to become time travellers and by doing so will receive their very own special passport!

They will be able to travel back in time as a variety of craft activities will take place including, colouring, games, drawing and medieval and pirate costume displays.

Throughout the day the time travellers will receive stamps and if they collect all four stamps then they will receive a special graduation Time Travellers drawstring bag and a congratulations postcard.

Pure Inspiration at Whitby Abbey

GP Taylor, one of Britain’s top authors, is encouraging budding writers of all ages to take inspiration from one of the most historic sites in the north as part of a writing competition.

Joining forces with English Heritage, GP Taylor is inviting authors from around the country to submit stories inspired by the cliff top ruins of Yorkshire’s Whitby Abbey.

This competition will give some authors the chance to see their work in print and at the same time hopefully uncover some bright new talent for the future.

This unique competition, Pure Inspiration, will run throughout the Summer of 2009. Entries are welcome from writers of all ages and abilities but each entry must share the common theme of Whitby Abbey.
